Installing floors with traditional joints

New Kährs floors have Woodloc® joints

Please note that at present we only supply flooring with Woodloc® joints, apart from a few products in the Kährs Supreme range, due to their unusually large board size. Therefore, these instructions apply mainly to older Kährs floors, produced previously.

The floor packs contain complete instructions on how to lay your floor. Please read these carefully before you start.

1.

Check that the subfloor is sufficiently level using a long board. If moisture protection is required, a film will need to be laid. Then lay the intermediate flooring underlay.

2.

Start laying the floor in a left-hand corner, using wedges between the boards and the walls. Remember that the tongue must always face outwards into the room! Use a piece of string to check that the board is straight.

3.

Use the cut portion from the final board, from the first row, as the first board in the next row. Leave at least 50 cm between the end joints. Glue the top side of the groove along the long and the short sides.

4.

After that, immediately knock together the boards with a hammer and knocking block. When you reach the end board, pull together the end joints with a jemmy and wedge in place.

5.

Finish off by adding skirtings and mouldings.
