The market-leading Kährs Woodloc® joint
In 2000, Kährs revolutionized the flooring industry with its innovative Woodloc® system. For the first time it became possible to install a floor without using any adhesives. The result: a completely smooth wood floor with perfect joints and minimal gapping. Installing floors became quick and easy.

Installing Kährs flooring
Installing a Kährs floor is easy. The floorboards are connected mechanically using practically invisible joints. Kährs flooring can be installed using a floating installation. This means that the floor is not glued to the subfloor; it is left “floating” above it. Kährs Woodloc® flooring can also be glued.
Please read the complete installation instructions, available here, prior to installation.
Preparation – wood is a “living” material
Wood is what is known as a hygroscopic material, which means that it adapts to the ambient humidity and contracts or expands according to variations in the indoor climate - this is why it is important to have an expansion joint between the floor and the wall and other fixed objects. To ensure that the floor does not absorb moisture before installation it is important not to open the packaging until it is time to start laying the floor.
To prevent damage to the floor it is important to ensure that the relative humidity during and after installation the floor remains between 30% and 60%. The room temperature and material temperature must be at least 64° (18°C). Prefinished flooring has to be laid after all other work has been completed, e.g. when painting and tiling are finished and the relative humidity – RH – on site is correct.
Important things to bear in mind
When you choose a wood floor from Kährs you have to remember that you are choosing something created by nature. At Kährs, we use photos and floor samples to help us show the products as best we can. Be aware that the appearance of the boards may vary from what is shown on the photos or samples, and that this is no reason for complain. If the floor packages you purchased include a board you do not like, you may choose not use it, use it as a starting or ending board, or use in an unseen place such as a closet. It is up to the installer or purchaser to visually inspect material as it is installed.
When boards are laid, regardless of whether it is you or a contractor, you will be deemed to have accepted them in your capacity as the purchaser.
